The Charlottesville Guide from an International Student Perspective
Activities
Now that I've dispensed with the most important parts of life - Food, Movies and Books - let me hop on to other stuff.
Outdoors and Sports
I am neither much of an outdoor person nor a sports person, except my taste for adventure.
However these things are in the air here.
You can hike on the Blue Ridge Mountains
and drive along the Skyline Drive.
I play Badminton and Wallyball, learned
Karate for two semesters for free,
am learning Tennis and have been Ice Skating (Call 817-1ICE)!
The university is also heaven for hardcore gymmers, with big facilities sprinkled everywhere.
Skydive. Done it twice and highly recommend!!
Fridays after Five
All through summer and fall, the Charlottesville Downtown Mall hosts Fridays After Five which
features several live bands playing outdoor. Fridays after 5 is now free. It attracts a lot of people
from Charlottesville and neighbouring areas and is probably the only place where you can find a real crowd
(the traffic caused by people leaving charlottesville every friday evening does not count as crowd).
