As an Indian living in the US, you would want to invest some of your money in India.
This, not only because you are Indian, but also because the Indian economy is growing very fast.
There are various means to invest in India of which I will give you an introduction to
US Mutual Funds, ADRs and NRI accounts.
ADRs
Definition (from http://www.adr.com): An ADR is a dollar-denominated negotiable certificate that represents ownership of shares in a non-U.S. company. The structure of an ADR includes a ratio, which correlates the amount of underlying shares to the receipt.
