Investing in India for American NRIs

Use the information on this page at your own risk!!

As an Indian living in the US, you would want to invest some of your money in India. This, not only because you are Indian, but also because the Indian economy is growing very fast. There are various means to invest in India of which I will give you an introduction to US Mutual Funds, ADRs and NRI accounts.

Mutual Funds

India Only Funds

Regular Funds:
ETGIX: EATON VANCE GREATER INDIA FUND (A)
EMGIX: EATON VANCE GREATER INDIA FUND (B)
MINDX: MATTHEWS INDIA FUND

The above funds have very high expense ratios (>2%) and personally I prefer the CEFs mentioned below which have expense ratios <1.5%. However these may trade at significant premium/discount to their NAV.

Closed End Funds (CEFs): (these are traded like stocks)
IIF: MORGAN STANLEY INDIA INVESTMENT FUND, INC.
IFN: THE INDIA FUND, INC.
