In case you didn't know already, you can buy almost anything cheaper online.
Also many sites offer to ship a lot of things to you free -
so that huge thing you wanted to buy but wondered how you'll transport can be shipped free
to your doorstep, plus there will be no tax (not always).
Other than that you can also find discussion forums where people post recently found
deals and sites that list offers available at various stores and coupon codes to buy
stuff cheap.
Before I go about giving you where to start hunting for deals and cheap prices, I must
issue this warning - If it sounds too good to be true, beware! There are tons of shady online
outfits that will take your money and never send out what you ordered or send wrong stuff.
To avoid that, always (I repeat always) go to Resellerratings
and see how the store you want to buy from is rated.
Some Places I Shop From
These are some realiable online sites which I generally shop at:
Everything:Amazon - Very reliable online store where you can buy virtually anything. Look for items which qualify for Free Super Saver shipping. I also have an Amazon.com Credit Card so I get free stuff at Amazon once in a while. The card offers 3% back in Amazon gift certificates for shopping at Amazon and 1% otherwise.
Sam's Club - I am a Sam's Club member and often I can find things at the Sams Club website which are not in the store. On most products that Sam's sells, nobody beats their prices.
Electronics:NewEgg - I would vote this as nets best store for computer related stuff, electronics and whatever else they sell.
B & H Photo Video - This is a store that a lot of photographers swear by. Personally I haven't used them but I always check prices there first.
Books and Music:Book Pool - Nice place to buy books from at reasonable prices.
BMG and Columbia - I got a whole lot of CDs at decent prices (even after the shipping extortions) from these sites.
Travel: There are a whole lot of sites to book travel from (airlines, hotels, cars, complete packages) - CheapTickets.com, Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline, Orbitz etc.. Most of these are similar. There are some unique sites like Vacations Made Easy, from which I got excellent deals not available from the regular sites.
Furniture: Parchayi and me have found great deals on furniture at Overstock.com. Also Target has some great furniture not available in stores.
Online versions of Brick n Mortar Stores
Other than Sam's and Target that I mentioned above, almost all big box stores have websites where you can shop online.
Generally the online versions have a larger selections thanks to items available online only.
Some examples are www.walmart.com,
Tech Depot by Office Depot etc.
Fatwallet - A great site for finding and discussing deals for just about everything. Also earn cash back from several stores.
